Reminder speeches start tomorrow. If you missed class the day we signed up I imagine you are speaking tomorrow. If you are unsure of the make up/ missed speech policy reread the syllabus.

How Much is That Pizza in The Window Structure Essay

We've talked about a general speech format when you've done your impromptu speeches, now we're going to look at a much more detailed format. You can access the format and some tips here. Your
first major speech will be due the Monday following fall break. It should take us between three and four classes to get them all completed so you need to start working on them now.

Your first speech will be an informative speech, which can be tricky, because your opinion has no place, nor does persuasive language, other than maybe the introduction. To help you out here are some topics you cannot use for an informative speech.

1. Capital punishment
2. Abortion
3.  religion
4. smoking or tobacco use
5. texting and driving
6. anything that is opinion based.

Here is the essay we looked at in class remember you can use it as a template for general structure, creative language, and transitions. Shoot for the feel of the David and Goliath transition.  HERE

Communication movie examples

Several of you have asked for some examples of the communication movie. I hope this helps.

This is an example from an last semester for a slightly different assignment. Here's an example of a prezi communication movie. Here's another example. This one isn't a student video, but I think it does in large part what your videos should do.

Let's talk about C.M.C. I think it's one of the more interesting areas of Communication to talk about today. I will post a quiz in the Edmodo group covering this presentation. All quizzes will be due by Sunday march 8th 11:59 pm.. I will also try to put the video in Edmodo in case that makes it easier for some of you.

Based on how it looks out my front door we will be online tomorrow, even if ECU is open.  I will post a video lecture to the blog, and a follow up quiz on Edmodo. This will count as  part of your quiz grades covered on the syllabus. As always if you have questions email me, etc.
